Support the Ainsworth Plan
What Is The Go Wide I-65 Coalition?
The coalition was begun by George Clark, the founder and former president of Manufacture Alabama. More than a decade ago, Clark directed a legislative effort to evaluate the infrastructure needs of Alabama and authored plans to guide state government in meeting those needs.
George Clark formed the Go Wide I-65 Coalition to meet what he sees as both a short-term and long-term imperative for the economic well-being of the state, as well as providing the safety and transportation dependability our citizens should demand.

Widen I-65: A Crucial Investment in Alabama’s Future
The Ainsworth Plan
Alabama Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth proposes expanding Interstate 65 ( I-65) to three lanes on both sides. This idea is not just an investment in Alabama’s future; it’s a pressing need. The Ainsworth Plan addresses current congestion and safety issues, fosters economic growth, and ensures the state is prepared for future transportation needs. The benefits of this expansion far outweigh the costs, making it a crucial and urgent project for the state’s infrastructure development.
The Ainsworth Plan proposes a phased approach to funding and construction of the expansion, focusing on sections that will have the most immediate impact and can be completed in a timely manner. Setting expansion priorities will also make this project more economically feasible.
The positive impact on traffic flow, safety, economic growth, and overall quality of life makes this expansion a necessary and urgent endeavor that requires immediate attention and action.
